Istanbul greetings

I hail a Taxi. "Where do I take you?", "To Asia", I reply, and I get out in another continent, with the same parfume of the sea.

I called the city Catbul, insted of Istanbul. Have you ever been in another city where the cats are so loved?

They say Istanbul is the city where "east meets west". I think there are still too many symptoms of arrogance towards the west, when Turkish people are the kindest community I've ever visited.

Children shouting, taxis crossing the city, people selling things. Istanbul is always awake!

Observe closely the gold of the Bizantine treasures and then close your eyes. The strong gold tone will continue being visible.

Have you ever seen a goose showing off in a fish market? A cat drinking directly from a fountain? People fishing from a crowded bridge? Visit Istanbul!

The minarets point to the sky asking it to water the city with sun, snow and storms all the year along.

Once upon a time... I visited Istanbul in august several, several years ago. I was with a colleague, enjoying Interail, carrying our backbags through Europe.

In Istanbul we expended allmost all our time in the european side. As Asia was at our fingertips, we decided to take the ferry (a sort of hull, actually) and there we were.

Everything was different, but what impressed me was the difference between the cats in the europen side an the asian side.

When several days after we visited Venice, I observed the cats there. Now, when I see a cat, I classify it in one of the three classes: Venetian, European Istanbuls and Asian Istanbuls.
